This page explains exactly what gets stored in your browser when you visit spenzaa.com โ including cookies set by us and by third parties we use for analytics and advertising โ and what happens inside our mobile apps.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser to remember things between visits โ like whether you're logged in, or which ads you've already seen. Similar technologies include localStorage, sessionStorage and pixels, which serve similar purposes.
2. What we actually use
- Essential cookies: if you log into the web dashboard, a session cookie keeps you signed in. Without it, the dashboard simply cannot work. It expires when your session ends.
- Preference storage (localStorage): we remember small choices like a dismissed banner. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.
- Analytics (Google Analytics): we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this website โ pages viewed, general location, device type. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to do this. See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google handles this data.
- Advertising (Google AdSense): we show ads on this website through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may set cookies to serve ads and measure their performance, and โ where permitted โ to personalize which ads you see based on your browsing. 3. What we don't use
- No advertising cookies of our own โ all ad serving and targeting is handled by Google, per its policies linked above
- No selling of your browsing data โ we don't sell anything to anyone; Google's advertising cookies operate under Google's own policies, not ours
- Your in-app financial data (expenses, budgets, SpenzaBook ledgers) is never used for ad targeting, on the website or in the app โ see our Privacy Policy
Depending on your region, you may see a cookie/ad-consent prompt on this site โ that's Google's consent tooling, shown where required by law (for example, to visitors in the EEA and UK).
4. Cookies in the mobile apps
The Spenzaa iOS and Android apps do not use browser cookies or show ads. They store your data locally on the device and sync it to your account over an encrypted connection, as described in our Privacy Policy.
5. How to control cookies
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time (look for "Privacy" or "Site data"). Blocking the essential session cookie will log you out of the web dashboard, but the rest of the site will work normally. Blocking analytics or advertising cookies won't break anything โ you'll just see less-relevant ads.
